My Mai Ring

I have just finished a diamond Target ring for a very nice man who was brave enough to embark on the ring choosing himself. He had seen my own engagement ring and liked the 'new' antique style, whereas mine is made with a slightly off white old cut diamonds and 18ct white gold, this time we went for platinum and a brilliant cut white diamond.

Again, the setting allows for a wedding band to sit right next to it. I'm very happy to say that the future Mrs was very pleased with it so the boy dun good! It is such a pleasure to make something with so much meaning for lovely people. (I put it on my little finger to show the difference in colours and how details can change the look of the same thing)

The ring was sent off in a cute little box that makes the ring look massive in this picture but it is actually very sweet and much easier to hide in your trousers!

Mr & Mrs in NYC

It has been ages.

But I have a good reason! I got married, in Central Park, In New York and it was amazing. I have not been to New York for about 12 years and so was desperate to go, so getting married there seemed like a fun thing to do.

The Ladies Pavillion is a lovely cast iron structure on the edge of the boating lake in Central Park, this was where we had our ceremony with a few friends and family (and some random strangers that wandered by!).

I was lucky enough to be able to wear a beautiful dress by London designer Jenny Packham, her dresses blow everything else out of the water. They are so slinky and well constructed with beautiful materials and detailing, anyone would feel a million dollars with one of her creations. My dress is the Marie Louise. Obviously, I had to have the head band too - Acacia 11, this is also brilliant. The whole look was quite 1930's Hollywood which I never planned but loved.

After the ceremony, we went to The Plaza Hotel for champagne in the very posh Rose Bar. Lots of people were taking my photo which was really weird but the hotel is so beautiful. I love the style of New York, the days before, we were in Brooklyn having a beer at the Juliette - this has such a great old look, then you are at the Plaza which is so opulent. They have kept the great design of the early part of the century and not replaced it with plastic.

After that, we ate at Maialino, a Italian restaurant in The Gramercy Park Hotel - gorgeous food and wine, I highly recommend a visit. Then we went up in the lifts to the Gramercy Terrace and sat in plump sofas surrounded by Damien Hirsts whislt drinking them out of Mojitos. I would LOVE to stay in this hotel, the colours and fabrics are so gorgeous, old style with a new twist, just how I like it..

So a very crazy and brilliant day, I feel very lucky. The whole trip (and the h.moon in California) was much needed rest that has given me loads of ideas and inspiration for my jewellery which I can't wait to get started on. It has also made me want to get straight on a plane back to New York..

A Few New Pieces

I have been busy making some new pieces, some of which are now available to buy online at EC One, and others that will be on my website very soon. Here is a quick preview.....
Double sided 9ct yellow gold Mini initial necklace, this is very similar to the mini floral (on the model) but has an initial on one side and the floral on the other rather than double floral. The necklace above is mine and I wear it everyday.

Double sided 9ct rose tag bracelet with Love on one side and Cupid's arrow on the other on a hand braided cotton cord. This is a new addition to the button bracelets but will also be available in 9ct yellow as a necklace.

Softly hammered 9ct yellow gold hoops, simple jewellery box staples. These will be available in yellow and rose gold.

These should all be online soon...................x

Diamond Target Ring for Me!

It's finished! As of Friday, I am the proud owner of a beautiful sparkling diamond target ring (also known as my engagement ring), that I have been busy designing and making.
The central diamond is a 0.53ct old cut that is very slightly off white, which is surrounded by brilliant cut pave set diamonds in the classic 'Target' style 18ct white gold ring.

I have spent much time gazing into a particular antique jeweller's in London that has a glittering display of diamond rings from the Victorian & Edwardian era that gets my heart fluttering. The old cuts are so beautiful and have a totally different allure to the modern brilliant cut that I feel is more synthetic.

For me, the only problem with the antique rings is the intricate openwork setting behind the diamond which often becomes very brittle and  is a little ugly; it also sits directly on the finger which does not allow for the all important wedding band.

I always think of the engagement ring and wedding band as a set that should work together and look beautiful as a whole. Quite often I think people forget about this so the band then looks like an after thought, for me it is  important to allow for extra rings to be added such as an eternity ring as well as the wedding band. Over time, the wedding finger becomes a little precious story as they all stack together to mark all those special events.

With all this in mind (start saving now Mr E), I made the setting very simple and low to the finger but with elevation so that I can stack fine bands with it...
The wedding band is 18ct rose and I am going to engrave an arrow around 1/3 of it - like Cupid's arrow and his target! I love sentimentality in jewellery so I just had to do it.

Anyway, I love it and will happily spend the rest of my life it  x

Silver & Diamond

Firstly, I have been getting some silver pieces ready for summer - medium floral double sided necklaces that have previously only been available in gold, more Cosmos pieces and some new 'Tags'. I am very particular about the chain I use and spend ages searching for the perfect one! at the moment they are from Germany so I have to wait for the delivery before I can finish them...sigh.
Secondly, I am engaged! since New Years Eve and a lovely proposal I have been plotting the perfect ring for me. I have bought a beautiful 0.53ct old cut stone that is off white as I believe they have more personality that way ( I am actually not too keen on the classic white brilliant cut as they can be very generic).  I am making a Target ring which is where the central round stone has another ring of pave diamonds around it - like a target!
This is quite a traditional design but mine will be quite simple and clean in 18ct white gold, no frills attached. I will upload more images as the ring progresses.

It is such a pleasure to have the opportunity to create this precious ring and I am loving it!

The Beauty of Blossom

What an amazing day! the sun is shining and it is warm, wow that vitamin D is good. I took a really long walk around the park this morning, Maeby the whippet has only ever seen autumn and winter so this is her first spring and she was so happy to run about without her coat although she did look naked! She has taken to terrorizing bumble bees which is a bit mean as we really need them, I am sure a sting is on the cards!
I had my camera and took loads of pictures of the blossom and blue skies for my website, all my work is inspired by Englishness and there is nothing better than a sunny English park to compliment it x

Pear Pearl

Here is a cute new necklace called Pear Pearl. which is made of 9ct yellow gold with a beautiful Tahitian pearl topped with a stalk and leaf. Pearls are quite traditional and are often made into quite serious pieces but this one has a fun twist. It is on a longer chain than usual at 21" so sits really nicely lower down - perfect for layering! x

Vintage Diamonds

Here are some more images of new pieces made with vintage coloured diamonds and 9ct yellow gold. I really love these stones because of their antique feel and have been looking for them for a while so it's great to be able to make these simple pieces with them. I hope you like them!! x
